Doug Turner

Construction Manager

The first thing you notice about Doug Turner is that he’s tall. Really tall – like 7’, former basketball player tall. The 2nd thing you’ll notice about Doug is that as big as he is in height, he’s even bigger in heart. A stage 3 lung cancer survivor, Doug is a co-coordinator in North and South Carolina for REEL Recovery, a non-profit that hosts fly-fishing retreats for men with cancer. Doug says that for many, these 3-day retreats can be a life-changing experience at a time when they need it most.

A native of Missouri, Doug grew up in Knob Noster, population 1,100. He spent most of his youth outdoors, hunting, fly-fishing and playing basketball. He also spent a great deal of time in the woods on his family’s property, building forts and all manner of things – a pastime that likely inspired his career in home-building and construction.

A standout basketball player, Doug was recruited to play college ball by a number of Division 1 schools and chose the University of Alabama at Birmingham – Go Blazers! And although the NBA was not in his future, a successful career in residential construction was. Doug has worked in a variety of capacities in residential construction for more than 20 years, from the Missouri Ozarks, to Charlotte to Myrtle Beach. Doug joined Trusst Builder Group in August 2019 as Construction Manager and is now building exclusively in Compass Pointe.

Doug is the proud father of three daughters ranging in age from 25 to 14 to 9. When he is not working, you can typically find him outdoors or planning a getaway to the North Carolina mountains, where he can indulge his passion for fly fishing.
