John Devine

John Devine is a man of many talents. As a construction manager at Trusst Builder Group, he can adeptly handle any building challenge that comes his way. And as a member of one of the nation’s most prestigious blue water sailing clubs, John routinely competes in sailing regattas up and down the East Coast.

He may not have sailed all of the world’s seven seas, but he has skippered his way across a good many of them. A sailboat captain for 15 years, John has completed seven trans-Atlantic voyages and delivered and raced sailing yachts for a wide variety of clients all around the United States and Europe.

A native of Port Washington, NY, John studied government and public administration at American University in Washington, DC before heeding the call of the sea. Today he is a member of the Storm Trysail Club of Larchmont, NY, a private club established in 1938 that is dedicated to blue water (ocean) sailing. Membership is by invitation only to expert offshore sailors who have experienced storm conditions and are capable of commanding a sailing vessel in such conditions.

Prior to joining Trusst Builder Group in 2017, John built custom mountain lodges in Aspen, CO ranging from 6,000 to 26,000 square feet. Locally, he has worked for Plantation Building Co and Tongue & Groove, custom home builders in Wilmington.

When he is not working, John and his wife Patty can often be found participating in a sailing regatta, enjoying time with their daughters Holly and Maggie or dog-sitting for their grand-dogs – a Golden Doodle and Shih Tzu.
