Jonathan Heiser

It’s often said that architects and designers are inspired to pursue their chosen career at a very young age. Jonathan Heiser, Director of Structural Design at Trusst Builder Group, is no exception. Since he was in elementary school, Jonathan has wanted to draw and design houses as a draftsman. It’s a skill and passion he likely inherited from his artist father, who enjoyed a career drafting boat designs in the yacht industry and is now a successful potter and gallery owner in downtown Edenton.

At Trusst, Jonathan designs, drafts and updates all of the many floor plans that comprise the Trusst portfolio. It’s a job he loves and he particularly enjoys seeing all of the design’s various components come together into another award-winning Trusst home.

Jonathan was born in Jacksonville, NC, the youngest of three siblings, and moved to Castle Hayne in New Hanover County at age four. He graduated from Laney High School in 2003 and held a variety of retail jobs before obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Technology in 2012 from Cape Fear Community College.

Prior to joining Trusst in February 2020, Jonathan worked for six years for Logan Homes as a Drafter and Application Specialist. Here, he produced construction drawings, assisted with the design of new homes, produced master plans and created code for drafting software.

When he is not working, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife Emily and their young son Wyatt, and when time allows, surf and pier fishing at Carolina Beach. He also keeps busy entertaining a Miniature Schnauzer named Charlie and two cats named Gizmo and Ralph.
