For Shannon, being a first responder runs in the family. In addition to his work as a contractor, Shannon has worked as a firefighter – either full-time or as a volunteer — for more than 20 years. It’s a passion he likely learned from his grandfather, a career firefighter, and his father, a NC State Trooper. In July 2022, however, he hung up his fireman’s hat for good to work full-time for Trusst Buider Group as Construction Manager.
A native of Elizabeth City, NC, Shannon graduated from Northeastern High School in 1996. Soon after, he began his career in construction first as an employee, and ultimately as the owner of Tarheel Builders, a home addition and remodeling company. He owned Tarheel Builders from 2000-2008, when relocated to Belville, NC and began working for Home Depot as Regional Manager of its Home Services division. He moved on to work at several residential construction firms and the Shallotte Fire Department until joining Trusst in 2022.
The father of five, Shannon has an active lifestyle that includes regular American Cornhole League tournaments, shuttling his son to motor cross rallies around the region, playing guitar and boating. And as time allows, you can often find him bartending at Brunswick Beer Exchange in Leland, a local tap room and bottle shop owned by his wife Monique.
In addition to his five children, Shannon and Monique share their business and adventures with two dogs – a Silver Lab named Lager and a Corgi named Stout. When not working, Shannon enjoys spending time with his family, boating and practicing for the next cornhole tournament.
